Seminar At Sea
Where Education can be fun
About Us

It all
started when we wanted to have a seminar for our continuing education units and
get away from it all.
At
Seminar At Sea (SAS) we know the value of networking, exchanging ideas, staying
knowledgeable in the medical profession and planning for the future.
Getting together to learn and plan for the future is a lot of work. Even
organizing an event can consume valuable time, money, and energy. From
past experience we've discovered that choosing a cruise ship is the best venue
for whatever meeting or seminar you're needing to earn your valuable continuing
education units. It is the most cost effective, hassle-free choice.
For
a two day land based seminar your hotel bill alone will might often pay for an
entire cruise ticket. And, that does not include meals or anything else you
might do while in town. See below for a brief comparison.
Due to the past response and
demand for inclusion in prior seminars, it is extremely important to register
early with a completed application and a deposit.
Seminar At Sea is limited to the number of attendees. Inclusion in each
seminar is only possible with the associated cruise package offered by Annie’s
Fantasy
Cruises
& Flights. Friends, family and associates who are not taking
seminars are welcomed and encouraged to participate in any offered sailing.

It
all started when we wanted to have a seminar for our continuing education units
and get away from it all.
Annie’s
Fantasy Cruises & Flights, aka ‘AFC’, began in August 1995, started by
Annie Henson,
a Registered Respiratory Therapist with a B.S. degree and twenty five years
experience,
and assisted by Greg Ebow a mainframe Analyst for over twenty years, it soon
became
time for us to find new challenges for the next stages of our lives.
We
went to New Orleans and meet with Carnival Cruise Line and were able to inspect
several ships.
We learned about group cruising and today we are considered by Carnival to be
one of their top group agencies.
In
2002 we coordinated the first University of Texas Medical Branch
“Seminar at Sea”. Now we are cruising into our fourth annual
“Seminar at Sea”.
AFC’s
mission in the Seminars At Sea is to provide the travel and coordination
of rooms, meeting space, entertainment, and total event coordination for CEU’s
being obtained at sea.

The
Seminar Director

Gene
Gill, RRT
It
all started when we wanted to have a seminar for our continuing education units
and get away from it all.
Gene Gill, a Registered Respiratory Therapist, started in 1966 in the
United States Air Force. As a corpsman in Vietnam he got his
feet wet caring for battle wounded solders and civilian
Vietnamese causalities. After serving two more years in
a hospital at RAF Lakenheath, England, he came back
to the states and began working in the new profession of
Inhalation Therapy, later know as Respiratory Care.
After
obtaining his degree in Respiratory Care, he worked at the
bedside in all levels of patient care. Some years later he started
working as an inservice coordinator for cardio-pulmonary
departments and then turned to healthcare management.
Starting out at a 30 bed hospital in Shiner Texas he began
learning the art of cardio-pulmonary directorship. After a series
of larger hospitals, he found himself at the University of Texas
Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB), a teaching hospital.
There,
as Manager of Support Services & Logistics for the Pulmonary
Care Department he produced two seminars a year for fifteen
years, then started doing the Seminar At Sea programs.
While
still working at UTMB, his new hobby is producing the
Seminar At Sea programs on his own time.
